To dear Ivan
A friend, a mentor, a fellow lover of books, a fan of good lunches with a decent wine or two, a witty man; a kind, generous, egalitarian, unassuming, and decent man. Never a fair weather friend. To the (never to be forgotten) uplifting surprise of his tenacity in tracking me down in hospital in December 2009, when I was truly at a low ebb. To so many enjoyable lunches we had together after that bleak time. To all the interesting books and articles he has given me over the years, which I will always treasure.
I hit the letter B initially when I went to write Vale. On that note, Ivan was the first person in Western Australia to initiate a Bail Hostell, when he was the Director of Probation Services; an invaluable community service.
So very fondly remembered by me.
A beautiful man whose warmth will stay with me forever. May he rest in peace and may perpetual light shine upon him. Our love to Iris, Juliette, Suzanne and Louise. A privilege to have known him. With much love, Adie and Ian and family

Loving memories of a very special and wonderful father, father-in-law and Papa for Suzanne, Russell, Nicholas and Thomas.
He will be sadly missed.
Loved and respected by all. Sincere sympathy to my sister Iris and extended family. Connie and family.
