  • Sincere condolences to Janina and Zoe, on the death of husband and father, Colin.

It’s been many years since we’ve seen Colin, but we understand his last years were very difficult with pain, frailty and loss of independence as his daily challenges. Such a different ending to the way he had lived his younger years, reminding us that we don’t know what lies ahead.

We remember Zoe as his delightful little girl, adding charm and energy into his life, and we marvel that she recently added new joy to Colin with her son, Dash. With respect and admiration, we applaud and honour Janina for her unwavering, loyal and selfless devotion for Colin. Such constant and intense daily care is a mammoth task, so we imagine that Colin’s passing will be a deeply felt loss for Janina .

We acknowledge all Colin’s family and we pray that his goodness will be their guide.

Sincere sentiment from Nancy and Rodney.

  • TROTMAN (Colin):

Colin Trotman was a beloved father, husband, brother, uncle and friend.

Many of his early years were spent in remote communities of Western Australia, where his father, Albert Howard Trotman, was a school teacher. From 1941 to 1945, the Trotman family (including his mother, Joy, and his brothers, Keith and Murray) lived in Coolgardie, a remote goldmining town more than 340 miles east of Perth. Theirs was a loving home but living in the goldfields was not without challenges. So, Colin’s companionship with his brothers made that time in their lives a happy one and remains meaningful to this day—especially to Keith, his only surviving sibling.

Colin will be remembered by all, including Keith’s family, with great fondness and affection. It is especially meaningful to his brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Jane, as well their children, Doug and Kathleen, to have spent time with Colin and his family over the years despite the huge distance between the US and Australia. We fondly remember the grand tour of the United States in the mid-1970s that Colin made with his wife, Jan, and children, Lisa, Chris and Geoff—driving across the country in our family station wagon. We are also glad to have met up at Christmas 2019 in Perth for a great family picnic with Colin’s children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We look forward to meeting his latest grandchild, Dash, son of Colin’s daughter, Zoe, and her partner, Michael.

Uncle Colin, we will miss you. With love,

Keith, Jane and their children Doug (wife Caroline; children Willian, Lucas and Lizzie) and Kathleen (husband Townes Jr; children: Townes III, Forrest and Caroline)
