    Al

You were a very kind, caring, considerate and supportive Uncle to Brayden and myself, qualities I became aware of from as early as I can remember.

If I do say so myself I always looked to you proudly as a man of statesman like qualities within the community you loved so much, Lake Grace. Your humility, generosity and good healthy, clever dose of humour was never lost on me. Never boastful or one to seek out recognition, always dignified, genuine and hard working, as I understand all qualities that helped and guided many throughout your years to achieve their own business success.

It wasn’t just Lake Grace but the district and beyond that benefited from your tireless service to community and I hope in the many years to come that recognition is not forgotten.

For me, back in the very beginning through to the latter years of my schooling before going away for boarding school I always felt so lucky to have you as our bus driver. Hazey with the West run, you with the South run. Sometimes I would have a chuckle when we would hear a random toot of the bus horn from you playing an imaginary keyboard on your steering wheel, very few were aware how musically gifted you actually were. I don’t think there would be a person or family down the South Lake Grace road, even today decades on, who doesn’t have a memory of you picking them up every day from 7am and dropping them back home throughout their entire schooling years, or even the evolution of the types of buses we rode on for that matter.

Being as close to you and Hazey, Stephen and the girls as we were, it was very easy for Brayden and I to feel as though we were an extension to your own family. You were certainly a role model to me and we both looked to you as something of a second father. Secretly I was even amused by your candour in the nicknames you bestowed upon one or two of my boyfriends.

So many memories to be thankful for.

Thank you for the extra ice creams you would allow us all at the end of year Bus Pool Parties...

Thank you for introducing me to chocolate coated ginger - it’s now one of my favourites and something I never cease to remember you by. I also laugh today as I reflect on my reaction as a little girl how you would eat capsicums like apples when back then they seemed such a delicacy (and hardly appetising to a young girl).

Thank you for the times you without question came to the rescue.

Thank you for being the calm and caring lifelong support to Mum and Dad, they had an incredible amount of admiration and respect for you as a person and dearly loved brother-in-law.

Thank you for being the wonderful Uncle you were.

I am eternally grateful to you.

    I feel so blessed.

Love Danah Lee (and Brady Rob AKA Fonzi)
