  • THACKRAY (Stephen):

From the moment I was introduced to Stephen I realised he was the ideal mediator to guide my case.

I found him fair, empathetic, logical and humorous.

I will be forever most thankful and very grateful for Stephen's outstanding skills, knowledge, modesty and kindness throughout my experience in the mediation process.

My sincere condolences to his family for their loss.

  • THACKRAY (Stephen):

Only a short 5 hour mediation with him and I have since shared to more than 100 students at my school of the sheer brilliance, and lifelong impact, to have witnessed communication at its finest. He demonstrated warmth, clarity and confidence but most of all led the way to a positive Heartfelt exchange. Maintaining dignity at a time when it could be so easy to let go of human respect and higher intelligence. Thank you Stephen, I feel humbled to have met with you and enjoyed the afternoon with you.

The community has lost a man of great wit, compassion and ambition. To me, he was not just a boss, but a travelling companion, mentor and friend. May his legacy live on in his wise words, the institutions to which he contributed and the people whose lives he touched. Rest in peace and my deepest sympathy to the family. Kate Hesford

  • THACKRAY STEPHEN My condolences to Stephen's family on their sad loss. Stephen was a classmate at CBC Leederville where his generosity of spirit, intellect and sense of humour endeared him to us throughout the years. At class reunions we learnt

of his humble beginnings in Mogumber and were proud of his journey to Chief Justice of the Family Court in WA. The world was a better place when he was present, none of those qualities from school days had changed, rest in peace you will be greatly missed. Charles Ridolfo

Words are not enough to describe this man born to lead and achieve and who never disappointed. He brought a high degree of dedication, skill and compassion to all he did, always tempered with an infectious sense of humour. He was indisputably a jurist of the highest calibre and his judgements live on as proof. I will be ever grateful for his advice, assistance and friendship during my tenure as C.J. and beyond. I send my sympathy to Janet, James and Amanda. I am certain Marg would do so as well if she could, so I do so on her behalf.
