I was a student of John's at Fort Street. I ran into him again in the 1980s at the then Mitchell CAE now Charles Sturt University Bathurst.
I held John in high regard as a teacher and as a man. I was sorry to hear of his passing.
John was the most amazing teacher. I had him for only half a year before being transferred to another Fort St English class due to class consolidation - but his ability to motivate the entire class and get all involved in energetic discussions and to get me thinking about other ways of seeing things was truly amazing. It has stayed with me as an indelible experience for this past 5 years! I am delighted to see the other appreciative comments and am saddened that he is gone.
SHARPHAM JOHN John, you were so important to our lives with your strength and wisdom. A friend, a confidant, a support, and best of all, someone to enlighten us on the foibles and maddening contradictions of the world. We will miss you. Ian and Julie.
