  • MITCHELL (Harry):

Harry, dearly loved and respected by his cousin Joy(dec) Rogers (nee Mitchell).

Many shared times with Nancy on the farm and mutual memories of Mitchell family childhood. Farm, Politics. Sport.

    Wonderful times.

Joys children Hugh, Caroline Georgiana and Alexandra all loved Uncle Harry.

Never a cross word or frown.

Such a quiet, gentle, kind man with a ready smile and sense of humour.

  • MITCHELL (Harry):

Dear Uncle Harry. Many fond memories from days at Sylvan loch. Harry coming over the hill on the tractor with his dog. Ducking his head under the door into the kitchen. Always kind and friendly, tall and tough.

    Time to rest Harry.

    Tony

My wonderful Ganny – gentle and gangly like the Big Friendly Giant. I particularly cherished our farm adventures as a child and your insightful conversation as an adult. You were supportive throughout, although I know you were relieved when I finally settled down, exclaiming “thank goodness” upon learning I was engaged! Jason enjoyed having someone in the family to chat with about football and cricket. We are pleased you were able to meet our little Serena and hold her hand. You once astutely told us that “you can’t change history”, but we will greatly miss you moving forward. I hope you have been reunited with the animals you adored. Love Kate and family

  • MITCHELL (HARRY)

At 88 years of age Harry died in the presence of family last Monday. He lived on his property of Sylvan Loch at Boyup Brook for 82 years. Loved husband to Nancy for 62 years, adored Father of Susan and Kylie (dec). Harry was actively engaged with the Farming Industry with The Farmers Union, then WAFF and was a Director of WAVCOP the wool marketing co-operative. He was very involved with the National Party, much to his Father's chagrin, who being a nephew of Sir James Mitchell was staunch Liberal. He was a Wicket Keeper for Dinninup for over 20 years and a West Perth and Dockers fan. Harry loved his cattle, was a good stockman and ran sheep for quality lambs. He loved his dogs which over the years numbered thirteen and ranged from Border Collies to Poodles. He also loved our daughter Susan and her family and followed their lives with great interest.

Harry was uncomplaining of his Cancer for which he endured many years of Radiation, Chemo and Nuclear Medicine. He was determined to live to see his Great Grandchildren thrive.

Harry boarded at Hale School, had no sons to continue the Mitchell tradition but remained a stalwart supporter and loved the reunions.

I will sadly miss my beautiful husband, who never criticised anyone and was so giving to one and all.

    Vale Harry, your darling Nancy.

  • MITCHELL HARRY How we all adored our gentle Harry. Ever empathic, and until recent times, always with a devoted dog. Forever remembered in his iconic Chamberlain on the hills of beautiful Sylvan Loch on the Blackwood River and the Jarrah lined roads of North Dinninup. Deeply loved by us and so many, he always had great interest in his grandchildren, Kate and Tom, and their families, until his last breath. Many precious memories for Susan of sheep yards, mustering, wet canvas waterbags and hot thermoses shared. Deep mutual respect with fellow farmer and Son In Law Michael. Harry was a model for human kindness.
