A true gentleman. We were the lucky ones in our town to have Rowlie. Nothing much Rowlie didn’t do. Ray and I paid our membership for Fremantle Footy at Subiaco Oval and guess where our seats were-Right next to Rowlie. Rest In Peace Champ.

Dear Rowlie, you were my first principal...back in the mid 80s at Coolgardie PS. Thank you for the start you gave me in teaching. Your support and guidance, and kind and honest nature were just what I needed...not to mention the adventures we all had going bush on weekends in your trusty Holden ute!!! You will be forever remembered by me. RIP

Rowlie was an absolute gentleman. He was my mentor, my support and my encouragement when I first started teaching in Quairading and this support and encouragement continued over the years as I ventured into other roles and most especially, in my performances in our local Curtain Raisers. His love for our town and the kids that grew up in it was second to none. He will be deeply missed. Kelli and Lyall Brown

Our sincere sympathy to the Mellor family on the loss of Rowlie.

Principal of Quairading District High School for many years. As Principal and as a community member he had an unwavering commitment to The Arts, all sport, planting trees, ANZAC ceremonies, public speaking and theatre. On retirement Rowlie was a great support to the school in driving the bus and helping out with excursions, carnivals and events. He had an untiring energy to support the students at every opportunity.

We were very grateful to Rowlie for the stellar job he did in coordinating the school’s Centenary committee and celebrations in 2013.

Rowlie has had a strong influence on many lives over many years in Quairading. He conducted a life of accomplishment, action and of community, well lived.

On behalf of Admin, staff and much of our parent body.

    Quairading District High School.

  • MELLOR ROWLIE Quairading Curtain Raisers are proud to have had Rowlie as a member for most of our existence. First to arrive and last to leave was Rowlies' habit and nothing was left to chance. His ability to see good in everyone and everything was the only encouragement needed for members of our community to have a go. We are extremely grateful that Rowlie chose to support our group as well as many others in Quairading.

A final exit, stage right, to a life well crafted.
