Danny Leighton born 1931 Perth WA, Bookmaker, Mining Explorer, Importer, Exporter, Builder, Farmer's Union Organiser and Farmer at Salmon Gums WA, died on Monday night. Sorely missed, beloved son of Harry and Edith Leighton, husband of Angela Leighton, father of David and Adam, grandfather of Daniel, Robert and Harry.

He did not die peacefully in his sleep, he fought for his last gurgling breath, as he fought hard all his life, he never backed down and never quit from any challenge, be it to protect his family, his community, Country-People, Jewish-People, Indigenous-People, all minority people. He was one of the protectors of Salmon Gums, when they needed him most. He always fought for the oppressed. He always spoke up when everyone else was scared to. He never backed down. He never showed fear. He was always the voice of innate wisdom, sometimes calm, sometimes not so calm. He always knew the Law, he always knew the formula, he always knew who to call, he did the calculations in his head, he could not be fooled, he could not be swayed. He always seemed to know. We love you forever Danny

  • LEIGHTON (Daniel):

Very sad that Dan has lost his final battle. Hard to believe that our friendship goes back 50 years! A lot of water has gone under the bridge since we met, but he was always a stalwart friend to me, even though we did not see each other, or talk on the phone as often as I would have liked, - or would have if we had lived in the same country!

Lots of love to Angela xx

To his loved ones. A remarkable person, an incredible life.

His ingenuity, his individualism and in his hard work he had no peer!
