My dearest Laurie. We had 64 lovely years together. You helped me to become a good Australian and I instilled in you how to enjoy being part Estonian. I'll miss you, Evi.

  • LECKIE LAURIE Evi, Rob, Karen and Alan. Thankyou for lending us your husband and father so our family, which was so interlinked with yours could benefit from his wisdom, patience and most of all enthusiasm. His gentle style of leadership helped create the next generation of leaders both within your home and at Dover crescent. So collectively we clench our fist and lean forward shouting a final.

    "B R A V O O O." Forever missed - The Bartons.

The Mayor, Councillors and Executive Team at the City of Stirling extend their deepest sympathies to Evi and family during this difficult time. Laurie made a significant contribution to the Wembley Downs community through his work with the 1st Wembley Downs Scout Group. He was awarded the Silver Kangaroo from the Scout Association of Australia for his service to Scouts and an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in 1988. He formed part of the Scout Group that took on the running of the Wembley Downs District Community Fair in 1973 which he continued until 2007.

The passing of Laurie is a great loss for the local community and he will be greatly missed.

Fond memories of a long standing foundation Group Leader in the 1st Wembley Downs Scout Group and who played a vital role in establishing what is a very successful Group. He was a Life Member of Scouts WA and a highly respected member of the 1st WD Fellowship and N.G.O.J.I. groups. Laurie was awarded an OAM in 1988 for his Service to Scouting. He was an inspiration to both our youth members and adult leaders over many years. Laurie was passionate in promoting the Group throughout the local community including initiating the annual Wembley Downs District Fair. He will be sadly missed by all who hold him dear. Deepest sympathy to Evi, Karen, Alan, Robert and their families from the 1st Wembley Downs Scout Group Family
