GRIFFITHS The Hon. Clive

Obituary Guest Book 44 Messages

GRIFFITHS (THE HON. CLIVE)

After a long battle with illness, our dear Pop passed away peacefully in his sleep.

Clive was a man devoted to Western Australia and equally to us, his loving family. His loss will be felt keenly by his large number of close friends and colleagues alike.

He is survived by his wife Norma, who mercifully is spared this heartache by her declining dementia. Father to Linda. Loving Grandfather to Danielle and Justin. Great Grandfather to Ruby, Harry, Nico and Ollie.

Dearest Justin, Bek, Ruby, Harry, Ollie, Dannii and Nico,

It was so lovely to have met your dear Pop at different times over the years in Melbourne and Perth. I will never forget seeing him thrashing out his exercise routine one day, not so many years ago. I know how completely treasured he was by you all and how your lives will never be the same now he has passed. What an inspiring influence he has had on all your lives. Much love, Kate, Captain Steve, Zyla and Bodhi

    CLIVE EDWARD AO 20.11.1928 - 08.11.2020

Dad passed peacefully in his sleep on Sunday.

He was a complicated man, one I was very close to until he chose another path which left me behind.

He continued to be a strong mentor and loving grandfather to my children Justin and Danielle and his great grandchildren Ruby, Harrison, Oliver and Nico.

He achieved much in his life from humble beginnings, too much to list. Suffice to say he leaves an indelible legacy of service to his beloved Western Australia both here and abroad.

I'll continue to mourn the lost years Dad. I love you, sleep peacefully. Lynda

    Funeral arrangements pending.

My condolences to Norma and the family.

Clive was an outstanding politician who reached the heights of the Parliamentary system as the longest serving Presiding Officer ever.

He never lost sight of his Electorate or their needs and was tenacious in their best interests and, was as a result, re-elected over many years.

He was respected by all sides of Politics and recognised for his great knowledge and commitment to the Institutions of Parliament. It brings a smile to my face at the memory of his legendary stories and sense of humour. I was proud to call him a friend. Gordon Masters.

HON. CLIVE AO Very sorry to hear of the passing of Clive. Sending Norma, Justin, and the family our deepest sympathy at this time.

‘Mr Griffiths' as he was fondly known in our household, was a loyal friend and confidant to Dad during his life for which we will be forever grateful. He had the strength of character and quick wit to keep even the sharpest of minds on their toes, witnessed by many during his long service to Western Australia as a leading Parliamentarian.

We were lucky enough to share a short trip to Kalgoorlie only a couple of years ago with Clive to visit his childhood neighbourhood and were reminded, ‘Never forget where you come from and never forget where you are going.'

    You will be sadly missed.
