We called you "Midnight" but you lit up our lives with your wit, humour, sense of fun, and, your great singing voice. You were a great soldier back in the day and apparently carried it on for all your time in the Army. "E Troop" would not have been the same without you.

A treasured member of Mosman Cottesloe Rugby League Club, a man who served his country in the SAS and decorated soldier. A larrikin, a man with a great sense of humour, loved a beer or two, friendly, jovial, a great smile. I remember once he took me up to the SAS regiment's birthday? and we were standing around chatting and he said let's move over there her comes the boss (colonel) as he didn't want to get into a discussion with him whilst I was there. (Political views were different). Another good bloke off to the Tigers and SAS den in the sky to share a few yarns and beers with his SAS comrades and MC tiger mates. Farewell old mate.

As a young and upcoming telegrapher with the Queensland Railways, his lust for adventure soon finds him enlisted in the AMF. After his initial military training he applies for, and is accepted to, the Australian SAS Regiment. Shortly after qualification, he is soon in the thick of it. In his first 4 years in the Regt, he serves 2 years on active service (in Vietnam). His first year during the very hostile TET Offensive and his last tour of duty as PC earning him a well deserved medal awarded by the then South Viet Govt. His continued service saw him progress to a high level performer, respected by peer and subordinate alike.

WO2 A. Blacker retired after some 20 years of dedicated service.

We did not always see eye to eye, however this solider was and always will be highly thought of.

Will see you further down the track Old Mate.... meanwhile R.I.P.
