A fabulous doctor of ours for many years. Very sad to hear this news.

  • BELBIN (Michael):

Such a shock today to learn of your sudden death, Michael, from my dear friend Alison Conroy. The cups of tea around the Belbin table in the kitchen every Tuesday evening for our Mostly Baroque rehearsal, which never started on time, were always amusing with the teasing interchange between Jill and Michael. Jill's passing was a huge loss and now we say goodbye to another dear, dear friend.

Much love to Anna, George, Lucy and William. Colin and I will miss you.

Heartfelt condolences to all Mike’s family on your loss. Also to Hilary, whom I had the privilege of meeting the last time I saw Mike.

    Peter Ryan (Maribyrnong) and family.

    Vale, cobber.

    Mike;

You disliked being called ‘mate’ and so I refrained, but that was what you always were to me: a good mate, a most cherished one.

Our friendship endured even after I moved to the other end of the Great Australian pitch decades ago. Such links are beyond valuation.

A few random memories of you from those early years when we were young men, more foolish than in later days, but also more carefree:

. Communal washing up days at 100 Forrest Street, North Perth - they were so rare, and always amazed us at the amount of crockery.

. Lunching with workmates while watching TV as Neil Armstrong kicked the Moon into real history.

. Being on the same night shift when you forecast for Kalgoorlie a record cold morning (a statistical sin) and nailed it.

. Listening to traditional jazz (well, sort of) at the Swanbourne Hotel on Sunday afternoons.

. Eating and talking with you and Jill as we planned like all our generation to fix the world (which refused the therapy).

    . Walking with Sopwith.

Condolences to all families. I am still coming to terms with the news - just found out. Mike "Slav" was a tough, hard competitor at UWA Soccer. Many memorable moments - Mike piggy backed me up the hill and to his car when I ruptured my ligaments. He then dropped me off at the front steps of CC Hospital - "you can hop the rest of way can't you, I am going out with Jill and can't be late, see you in a couple of weeks Wol"... Thank you also for your support and encouragement when you visited me at the Blackwood River Clinic during its construction phase. It was a tough call and your day with me on site was fantastic....RIP Mike. Wally

Still coming to terms with Mike's sudden death.

I was the first practice nurse at Lakes Medical, South Lake. Dr Belbin (Mike) became not only a great boss but a great friend. We shared many happy and sad times together. He will be sadly missed.

    Condolences to his family.

And then, there were four. What a shock it was to learn that our old mate, Mick Belbin, died suddenly last week. That leaves a big hole in the Perth contingent of crusty old bastards who were inmates together at International House in the 1960's. Lunch at Wetherspoons will not be the same anymore. Will catch up with you later on Mick when our turn comes around.

Vale Dr Michael Belbin Mike Belbin was a long time and highly respected GP Obstetrician and GP Anaesthetist at Woodside Maternity Hospital, East Fremantle. He served at various times on the hospital's Medical Advisory Committee and was an inaugural member of the Shared Care Antenatal Clinic and the Locum Appointees Group. He was always courteous, kind and generous of his time to all his patients and the entire hospital team. This professional side was complimented with a wonderful musical talent. Who could forget the script and score that he co-wrote with wife Jill for a hospital Christmas party skit, using newly minted words to the "Sound of Music", and casting the staff as actors!! Hilarious. A fine person whom we will fondly remember. Deepest sympathy to George, William, Anna and Lucy.

Michael Belbin made this world a better place. Hilary and Michael were a loving and committed couple who made each other profoundly happy. Michael often expressed how lucky he was to have Hilary by his side. We will all miss Michael, his ability to comprehend things that weren't said, his generosity of spirit and his gentle nature. RIP Michael. To Hilary, may you find solace through the memories you and Michael forged together.
