ANTHONY Rod

Obituary Guest Book 21 Messages

ANTHONY (RODNEY JOHN)

23.7.1950 - 20.05.2020 Loved and loving husband to Kerry, wonderful Dad to Christine and Stephen and kind father-in-law to Charley and Miska, adored Grandpa to Mia, James, Ava, Billy and Conor. Rod passed away on Wednesday morning after a 2 year brave struggle with cancer. He was forever positive, suffering in silence to protect us all. Rod loved his family, friends, work, surfing, gardening, fishing, golf and the Dockers. He was the David Attenborough of our family passing on his love of nature to our children and grandchildren. He worked around the world, his easy going nature and his wonderful sense of humour allowing him to fit in with anyone and any situation. His general knowledge was outstanding and he was the go to person for any homework problems. We have wonderful memories of our holidays together but especially at Point Peron where fishing with Chrissy and Steve on a little boat named Squid Ook was his favourite. We love him and will miss him beyond words.

ANTHONY (Rodney):

We still had so much more to do. How I will miss you. You were brave beyond brave. Goodnight Honey Bun, I'll meet you in the garden.

Love Kerry

ANTHONY (Rodney):

Dad, Grandpa, Prampa we love you and will miss you so much. Thank you for being such a wonderful part of our life.

Bo, Charley, Mia, James and Ava

ANTHONY (Rodney):

My best mate, we did everything together. The boys and Mis adored you. All our love Steve, Mis, BJ and Conor

We would to thank Dr Davray and the wonderful staff on Gratwick Ward at Hollywood Hospital.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Rod's ashes will be scattered at his beloved Point Peron as per his wishes.

  • ANTHONY (Rod):

A wonderful work and travelling companion for many years throughout the Caribbean islands.

Rod had a wonderful sense of humour, and an easy gentle manner with all he met, quickly endearing him to our many friends on the islands. He was always quick with a laugh and great company at the end of the work day.

I have many fond memories of our trips, experiences and laughs as we hopped around the islands with the rest of our team.

I am left with the memory of a fine man who left us all a little too early, but who left a lasting impression on all those he met in his travels.

Our deepest sympathies and condolences to Kerry and family.

Jack's son to a tee. Kind, caring, thoughtful and a devoted family man. Rod loved a laugh and endeared himself to all. Incredibly stoic to the end with the most beautiful of parting words. Always remembered and forever in our hearts. Rest in peace. Julie, George and family.

From school days to the present you loved Rotto. From its inception in 87 you have been integral to the success of the annual Rottpack reunion and its festivities. Fourteen mates from school days living it up at Rotto every November for 33 years. The Quokka Golf Classic was your baby and your legacy.

All great fun, lots of laughter, memorable times. We will miss you Rod but you will be forever in our hearts at Rottnest. Condolences to Kerry, Chrissie, Steve and families.

From the time we stood on the old Subi Railway Bridge when you said you'd be my friend, I had no idea that it would last for 60 years. From childhood friends to mates for life, we were like brothers. Rod and Leon Vananthonerpy! We did so much together, we have had so many adventures and made so many memories. Likeable, fun loving and courageous, a truly great mate. Words can't describe your bravery Rod, nor our loss, but know that the memories we made and the fun we had will live with me forever. Leon.
