BLURTON John

In Memoriam

BLURTON (John Frederick Matthew) 1920-1994:
Today, it's been 20 years since God called you home. This year when we celebrated 40 years of the Aboriginal Mass Centre at Embleton, we remembered you. A strong Ballardong man who walked upright and was ever so humble. You married our dear Mum Gladys early on in life. As your oldest daughter, I'll never forget the happy days of living in our mia mias under the stars with the bush flames dancing. You were a man who worked extremely hard doing all farm jobs to bring home shillings to feed the family. After leaving York in the 1960's we moved to Perth. In the early 1970's, after running out of petrol one day, you befriended Sister Pat who was on a mission from God. After that meeting you took her under your wings taking her into the Aboriginal communites, so God's word could spread. Today we remember the good deeds you did, one of them was founding a Church for the Aboriginal people. We know that God chose you because you had a big heart, a big family and would always be willing to help anyone. Never forgetting what you did for your family and the community.
Love always, Gwen, Albert Corunna and families.
