I was so shocked and saddened by Wayne’s death because I was only speaking to him a few days earlier. His academic achievements is to be admired; he was a good friend, ‘my relly’, confidant and my lecturer. I shall miss him. My deepest sympathy to his family. Sleep peacefully my brother/cousin.

  • WARNER (Wayne):

I was and am very, very sad and sorry to hear about the passing of Mr Warner.

My memory of Mr Warner was of a proud, resilient and strong Yamatji, Amangu, Wilunyu, Southern Yamatji man. He was brave, smart and very, very funny. I liked listening to his jokes and the many stories about a life spent achieving many things and contributing to the community with his leadership.

I learned many things from Mr Warner about life, adventures and finding ways to keep learning and thinking. About continuing to hope and strive for a better and more equal world for future generations.

I will miss him and his presence, and pass my condolences on to his family and friends.

May his spirit remain with the many who got to meet him.

I heard the news of your passing and could not believe it. You will be truly missed, by your family and friends and we, your colleagues. I learnt a lot from you and feel sad that I will no longer have that opportunity.

May you truly rest in peace, a peace that knows no bounds or limits.

To Wayne's family, I just want you to know that he was truly a remarkable man, a great colleague and mentor. May you be comforted by this fact and know that Wayne lives through each and everyone of you.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
