This is so sad. My good friend from school in Grays and best man at my wedding. We lost touch a few years ago which is now deeply regreted.

  • STRAKER (Brian):

Brian was a fine man who met the joys and vicissitudes of life with a keen wit and dry humour. He will have left his mark on many families whose children he taught. He and Janet continue in my heart and mind in so many different small ways. It is a sadness that his last year may have felt diminished or isolate but family love is rich. The fullness of Brian is much bigger and more complex than can be said in a word but he walked our earth in our time and made a difference to many. I shall recall him and Janet with fondness back to the universe from which you came may there be peace family had a fine Dad.

RIP Brian. We will cherish the many conversations we had with you at the MAAC. Thank you for your dedication and passion in teaching our children. We affectionately refer to you as " Mr Straker, homework-maker".

Our dear friend Brian, how we have missed your sharp intellect and wit over the past year or so, we now imagine you resting peacefully with Janet and James leaving us saddened by your departure. So many stories to reminisce with lovely photographs of times with you and Jan. Our love and thoughts are with John, Katie and Raf and your beautiful granddaughters, Rose, Libby, Emma and Alice.

    To the Straker family,

I am deeply saddened to hear of Brian (Mr Strakers) passing.

As a former student of “Mr Straker” I often reflect on the impact he has had and how much he has inspired my interests/passions I currently have today.

He has imparted a love of world history, world wars, Winston Churchill, genealogy and everything in between. I am forever grateful that I was able to be a student learning and laughing in his classroom.

    Rest In Peace Sir.
