PEASLEY (Dr William):
While this is coming a little late in the day, I feel that I have to send a message to Bill. I didn’t know of Bill until I read his book The Last of the Nomads, on a recent caravanning trip to Karijini. If practicable, I was hoping to go and see Bill when I got back to Perth and have just found out he left us in January 2020. I was very moved by this book and I found it provided a valuable insight into the utterly tragic history of the Australian Aborigine. While ostensibly a book about three Aboriginal people, I felt it reflected the fate of an entire race and culture who over their many generations had got so many things right. I am sure Bill sensed both the great power and, delicacy of their extraordinary way of life, when confronted by the European’s blooming capitalism. Bill, you have contributed an important legacy that will hopefully allow many non-Aboriginals to catch a glimpse of just how much the world has lost: thank you.

I had the pleasure of working with Bill in Broome, we formed a wonderful working relationship which I will cherish forever. Bill was a true gentleman and a wonderful volunteer. Sending all his family my condolences. Broome has lost a true son. x

PEASLEY Dr (William):
I had the great privilege, along with Mathew and Samantha Kelley, to make the Documentary 'The Last of the Nomads' with Bill Peasley in 1996. Based on his book of the same name, it reconstructed his iconic 1977 expedition into the Gibson Desert with Mudjon and others to locate Warri and Yatungka of the Mandildjara. The experience was a career highlight for all of us and went on to be recognised with a Gold Medal at the New York Film and Television Festival.
A Fitting Tribute To A Great Australian.

A good man. A good and loyal mate.

PEASLEY (Dr William):
Great memories of Bill, Anne and family - our neighbours in Port Hedland in the 1960s - picking oysters off the rocks below our houses, fishing trips in our boat, aircraft and road trips to the outlying towns and stations - a great life of success and achievement with modesty and self-effacement. Vale Bill.

PEASLEY (Dr William):
Bill accomplished many things in his life. We are proud of his achievements as a historian, a medical professional, a war service veteran and a loving father and grandfather.
He will be sadly missed by Mark, Sonja, Libby and Jonno.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Dr Bill on your sad loss.
Bill (Wati Yinna) thank you for all of the friendship, support, encouragement and assistance you gave me for my 4wdrive expeditions and for my books.
Bill your life is best summed up by the citation for your AM, awarded 8 June 2015: ‘For significant service to the community as an inland explorer, historian and author, and as a general practitioner.’
Bill, Australia has lost one of its very important sons, it was a great pleasure to have known you and may you rest in peace.

PEASLEY WILLIAM On behalf of the WADMS Board, Management, Staff and Doctors, we offer our sincere condolences to the family of Dr Bill Peasley.
As a foundation doctor working on our service back in 1977 and then for the following 32 years, you were a very valued member of our locum family. Though you may have retired some 10 years ago, your amazing bedside manner is still talked about today and we will fondly remember you always. May you rest in peace Bill.
