MANNERS (Dr Ross):
I was one of Dr Manners' first patients when he went into his speciality. I was presenting bipolar with shortening periods between episodes. He listened to me and prescribed medication. He was there every time I fell on my face to pick me up. I am now a stable old lady in my 70s, a mother, a wife, a grandmother. God Bless you, Dr Ross Manners RIP.

MANNERS (Dr Ross):
Without Dr Manners' diagnosis and ongoing support, I truly believe I would have been unable to cope in life.
A wonderful man with a gift and a passion for helping others.
Will be dearly missed but forever remembered and appreciated.

MANNERS (Dr Ross):
😥😢😭
I'm devastated to find out my Psychiatrist of about 15 yrs died last month. Not only did he change (and save) my life but also helped my family. I started seeing him for ADHD but felt so comfortable with him that I soon trusted him to help me with my childhood trauma.
Dr Manners was the first person to assure me that I was highly intelligent, just impulsive. He helped me get through an abusive marriage and helped me cope with childhood abuse responses. He was like a Grandfather figure to me who was always honest, interested and gave me hope. He never judged me and always enabled me to find the answers to my problems myself, with just the right questions. He would share stories about his family and his farm. We would talk about so many random intellectual things, the latest world news and we laughed often. He empowered me like no other.
My deepest, sincerest condolences. He was such an incredible gift to the world and will be missed by everyone I'm sure.

MANNERS (Dr Ross):
Overwhelmed with sadness at the passing of Dr Manners.
Your consultations have always been a comfort, you were always right and I just needed to follow your guidance to stay well. I will never forget your advice 'You have to stop listening to well meaning people who don't know what they're talking about. If you had a heart problem you would take the medication!'
And I do, I miss our appointments, over the past 40 years we have discussed pumpkin harvests, sandstone mining, farming architecture and building, etc. your sense of humour and ready box of Kleenex always appreciated. My sincere thanks for your help in keeping me physiologically balanced.
Best wishes and condolences to all his family and loved ones.

Dr. Ross Manners
I am saddened to hear of your passing. You were such a gentle soul, full of wisdom. I was your patient for 15 years. At every appointment you always had a few words of inspiration which guided me immensely through my ups and downs. Your first most uplifting quotation you gifted me with was....."You have to be realistic" ... I came back home and immediately painted it on my kitchen door as a daily reminder. From my heart ... I thank you deeply. My condolences to the family and to all who were touched by his amazing positive energy ... R.I.P.

MANNERS ROSS The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) note with sadness the death of Dr Ross Manners on 6 May 2023. Dr Manners trained in psychiatry in the UK and Australia, both in adult and child psychiatry. For many years, Dr Manners ran a busy private practice in child and adult psychiatry and also consulted to Princess Margaret Hospital, where he was involved in the training of medical students and registrars. He was a guiding hand for young psychiatrists who were entering the private sector and trying to understand how it all worked. He regularly attended professional educational development events (locally, nationally and internationally) and a stalwart of the ADHD Focus group meetings which began about 10 years ago, now has over 70 specialists on the list. He was a leading practitioner in the treatment of childhood bipolar disorder and a regular contributor to professional education development events on this topic and others. He leaves a major gap in the private psychiatry landscape.
Sincere condolences to his wife Dr Prue Manners and his children Felicity, Lucas and Nicholas.
-
MANNERS ROSS Sincere sympathy to Prue, Flick, Nick, Luke and their families. Farewell to Ross, a unique character and long-time great friend to Rob and Prue and our families.
