Rob Lambert and Ari Sitas pioneered Industrial Sociology as a degree major at Natal University in Durban, South Africa. I was in that first ever graduating class of about 50 students, in 1983. We were all inspired by both of them, especially Rob's patience, wit, brilliance and kindness after lectures, taking his time to ensure that he was a friend first, and a lecturer, second. As one of my favourite lecturers across 4 universities on 3 continents, I am so very sad to say goodbye like this, so prematurely. But we celebrate what you managed to achieve, Rob, and many, many people out there, will remember how you strived to improve the lives of millions in the Broader South. A remarkable life, well lived. Condolences to the family, especially today the 7th of June 2019.
R I P Prof Lambert.
