The end of a beautiful friendship. Lyn and Kath Balfour were both born in 1945 and met in Kalgoorlie in 1976. They worked together in Kath's Boulder City Pottery Shop.

Remember camel bricks? They both moved to Perth in 1980's and their friendship continued. Lyn's artistic and literary life grew with the WA Museum exhibition of her Grand- mother's Trunk, followed by the film and book of her "Lady Soldiers". They left us 2 weeks apart and we grieve for our loss.

    Goodbye Lyn. David Balfour.

Lady soldier. A caring and talented woman, who faced this final challenge with Grace and Courage. Only a loving thought and happy memory away, with love and in friendship.

You were my mentor, rock and guiding light for 51 years. You gave me the true meaning and gift of friendship with unconditional love, honesty, respect and loyalty to the very end. When times were so difficult in our younger days, you taught me restraint and to hold my pride. You always had my back just by being you. Thank you and words aren't enough to express how I'm feeling. I miss you. We had laughs, tears, fun, but above all "sister of my soul" we had love, a priceless gift that I'll keep forever in my heart. You were so brave, calm and brilliant in life and you showed us all how to die with dignity on your own terms. So rest easy now my darling friend. No more pain, you're in God's garden. Forever I'll look up and see you as the brightest star in Heaven. Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being Karen's Godmother, whom I love. Deepest sympathy to my Karen, Chris, India, Campbell, Murray, Family and Friends who loved her. Your march is over so "at ease my lady soldier". RIP Beautiful Angel. I'll love you forever. Dolly

Saddened to hear of my special friend Lyn's passing. We have been friends since February 1964 where we shared a room at our Army Recruit Training in Sydney. You wrote the book called (Lady Soldiers) about the lives of your Army colleagues. This was a wonderful achievement and you worked very hard putting it together. Glad that Greg and myself saw you last year in Perth. Hoped we would be having many more meetings. Our thoughts are with your family as they will miss you dearly.

    Greg and Ruth Northover.
