I offer my condolences to the family.

Alex's contribution to science education was enormous. He helped to facilitate the fund raising for the Gravity Discovery Centre Foundation, which led to the creation of the Gravity Discovery Centre. He accepted the role of Patron to the Gravity Discovery Centre.

In his later years Alex championed the case for creating a public artwork inspired by breakthrough discoveries at UWA that contributed to the formation of three ARC Centres of Excellence on Engineered Quantum Systems, Gravitational Wave Discovery and Dark Matter, as well as the creation of a successful industry based on sapphire clocks and oscillators. His vision for a sculptural memorial lives on.

Thank you for so many memories.

Dear Agatha, Ruth, Anne, Leon and families our deep condolences on your loss. We especially feel for Agatha, who provided Lex with a wonderful life in his later years. Lex told us that he'd been lucky to be blessed twice in marriage; first to Adele and then to Agatha, both unions having brought him great joy. Lex, see you on the other side; you were very dear to us and still are very dear to us.
